frozen marshmallow sensory table

Our frozen marshmallow sensory table is also a spring themed play activity! And you can't do a spring/easter activity without peeps...so enjoy!

Here's everything you'll need for this seasonal table:

filler:

We froze our marshmallows for an added "wow!". Marshmallows are easy to freeze because they freeze quicky, and they are already coated in some (mysterious...) powder that makes them not stick together. Just don't forget to pull apart the peeps before freezing, and then it's as similar as putting them in a large baking dish in the freezer for an hour.

accessories:

(We mostly used 'wet table safe' accessories, but it ended up being a pretty dry table without any condensation - which was surprising but great if you'd rather use wooden tools!)

Once the marshmallows were frozen, we poured them into the table in layers, and then we dropped in the accessories. The marshmallows do unfreeze quickly... so you have to move fast once you're ready to go, but it's kind of fun when they go back to the soft texture for a second round of play. Then once they start drying out the next day, you've got another type of texture for play. The table that keeps on giving (until it isn't safe anymore - then toss them all and wash the table well! lol).

And I know what you're all thinking... didn't the kids want to eat the marshmallows? Yeah, obviously. This is one of our truly 'taste safe' tables. We washed the table well before the activity, so we felt fine letting the kids eat a few of the marshmallows. We did not, however, let the dogs eat them. Marshmallows aren't great for pups, so make sure you have a lid handy when you're taking a break from play.

Have so much fun with this easy twist on a sensory table!
